The Planning Commission is authorized by Virginia law to prepare and recommend a Comprehensive Plan and a zoning map for the physical development of the land in the county. The Commission also reviews a variety of land development applications (e.g., rezonings and special exceptions) and makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors for consideration in approving or denying the proposed projects.

The Northampton County Planning Commission will meet on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Chambers located at 16404 Courthouse Road in Eastville, Va., for the purpose of conducting public hearings on the following matters.
Special Use Permit 2015-02: Kiptopeke Villas, LLC has applied to construct and operate a Restaurant less than 2,500 square feet, no drive-thru. The property containing 1.52 acres of land, is described as Tax Map 112, double circle A, parcel 69, is zoned H, Hamlet, and located in Kiptopeke.
The Northampton County Board of Supervisors will also conduct public hearings on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Chambers.
The application will be on file and open to public inspection in the office of the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors and in the Development Department located at 16404 Courthouse Road, Eastville, VA. Anyone wishing to comment on the above item is invited to attend the meetings and make their comments known. Written comments can be submitted to the Development Department P.O. The Northampton County Planning Commission will meet for its regularly scheduled work session on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at 7 p.m. in the Northampton County Administration Conference Room, 2nd Floor at 16404 Courthouse Road, Eastville, Virginia.
The Northampton County Planning Commission & The Northampton County Board of Supervisors will conduct a joint work session and jointly hear public comment on revisions to the Northampton County Code of Ordinances repealing section 154.162 Flood Plain Overlay District and inserting section 159 Flood Plain Management. The meetings will take place on Monday, February 23, 2015 with the joint work session commencing at 5 p.m. and the public hearing at 7 p.m. Both meetings will be held in the Board Room of the County Administration Building, 16404 Courthouse Road, Eastville, Virginia.
