PUBLIC NOTICE
The Northampton County Planning Commission will meet on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. in the former circuit courtroom located at 16404 Courthouse Road in Eastville, Va. The purpose of the meeting is to conduct regular business and public hearings on the following matters.
A. Subdivision Text Amendment 10-01 EAST, Joint Public Hearing with the Town Council of Eastville: The Town Council of Eastville proposes to adopt an ordinance to be known as the “Subdivision Ordinance of the Town of Eastville,” pursuant to the requirements of VA Code §15.2-2240, to regulate subdivision and development of land.
B. Special Use Permit 10-03: Franktown United Methodist Church has applied to expand the existing Montessori School by offering primary education through age 9 and to construct a new school building on property owned by the church located at 7551 Bayside Road in Franktown. The property, zoned H-Hamlet District, is described as being Tax Map 20-A-65.
The Northampton County Board of Supervisors shall also conduct a public hearing on item B. on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the former circuit courtroom located at 16404 Courthouse Road in Eastville, Va. The applications will be on file and open to public inspection in the office of the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors and in the Department of Planning & Zoning located at 16404 Courthouse Road, Eastville, Va. The draft Subdivision Ordinance of the Town of Eastville will also be available for public review at the Town Office on Willow Oak Road, opposite the Post Office.

The Northampton County Board of Supervisors will receive public comment at its meeting on Tuesday, February 9, 2010, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the former circuit courtroom,16404 Courthouse Road, Eastville, Virginia, to afford interested persons the opportunity to be heard or to present written comments concerning a proposed amendment to the Enterprise Zone. The proposed amendments will include deletions of properties with non-commercial zoning and the inclusion of properties with Commercial or Industrial zoning.

The Northampton County Board of Zoning Appeals will meet on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. in the former Circuit Courtroom located at 16404 Courthouse Road in Eastville, Va., for the purpose of conducting regular business and public hearings on the following matters. At 9:00 a.m. Board members will assemble at the Dept. of Planning & Zoning in Eastville then travel to each property in order to conduct the necessary field visits.
1. Variance 09-09: Granville Hogg has petitioned for variances of 20-feet from the required 60-foot front yard building setback from Wilkins Drive, of 25-feet from the required 60-foot front yard building setback from Townfield Drive and of 15-feet from the required 25-foot rear yard building setback for the purpose of constructing a shelter. The property is located on the north side of Townfield Drive at the intersection of Wilkins Drive in the Cherrystone area and is zoned A Agriculture. The property is described as Tax Map 83, double circle A, parcel 28D.
2. Variance 09-10: WPKD LLC has petitioned for variances of a maximum of 54 feet from the required 100-foot front yard building setback from US Route 13, of 72 feet from the required 100-foot front yard building setback from an access road and of a maximum of 50 feet from the required 75-foot rear yard building setback for the purpose of commercial building. The property is located on the west side of US Route 13 south of its intersection with Stone Road (S. R. 184) and is zoned TE-CG Town Edge-Commercial General. The property is described as Tax Map 91A, double circle 2, parcel 5.

The Northampton County Planning Commission will meet on Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. in the former circuit courtroom located at 16404 Courthouse Road in Eastville, Va. The purpose of the meeting is to conduct regular business and public hearings on the following matters.
A. Zoning Map Amendment 10-01: The Northampton County Board of Supervisors proposes to amend the zoning on Tax Map 10, double circle A, parcel 53 from the TE-1 Town Edge – One District to the EI Existing Industrial District. The property, owned by Charles & Jean Ames, is located at 11420 Oakland Drive near Exmore.
B. Zoning Map Amendment 10-02: The Northampton County Board of Supervisors proposes to expand the area known as Bridgetown Hamlet to include Tax Map 29, double circle A, parcels 24, 28, 29, 30, 31, 36A, and 40A and that portion of parcel 37 with road frontage on the west side of Bayside Road south of parcel 29-A-39 and to a depth of 180 feet west side of Bayside Road and all of that portion of parcel 37 with road frontage on the east side of Bayside Road; Tax Map 29A1, double circle 1, parcels 3, 4, D3, E1 and E2; the road frontage only of Tax Map 29, double circle A, parcel 20 to a depth of 200 feet east of Bayside Road; and that portion of Tax Map 29, double circle 2, parcel A that abuts parcel 29-A-28 on three sides to the northwest, west-southwest, and southeast, constituting approximately 0.5 acre, with the distance from Bayside Road to the northwest corner of the proposed Hamlet boundary being 480 feet and from Bayside Road to the northeast corner of the proposed Hamlet being 570 feet. Zoning on all parcels shall be changed from the A/RB Agriculture/Rural Business District to the H Hamlet District. The parcels are located along the east and west sides of SR 622, Bayside Road.
C. Zoning Text Amendment 10-01: The Northampton County Board of Supervisors proposes to amend Chapter 154: Zoning Code of the Northampton County Code of Ordinances, specifically §154.003 Definitions and Appendix A. The proposed revisions would amend the definition of DESIGN/PRODUCTION FACILITY to increase the maximum number of employees from five (5) to twelve (12) and increase the allowable square footage for this use as set forth in Appendix A, Use Regulations, Category 3, Commercial Uses, from 3,000 square feet to 5,000 square feet.
The Board of Supervisors shall also conduct public hearings on the above matters on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the former circuit courtroom located at 16404 Courthouse Road in Eastville, Va. The applications will be on file and open to public inspection in the office of the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors and in the Department of Planning & Zoning located at 16404 Courthouse Road, Eastville, Va. Additional furlough dates will be imposed throughout the year for selected staff, and will be advertised. These additional dates will not result in the closure of the county offices

In an effort to reduce costs, the Northampton County Board of Supervisors has reduced the operating hours of the County’s Waste Collection Centers, to be effective Sunday, November 1, 2009. New Operating Hours are :
Monday—Saturday: 7:30 a.m. to 12 noon and 2:00 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Sunday: 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The County’s Sanitary Landfill will also implement its Winter Hours’ schedule effective November 1, 2009 through February 28, 2010.
Monday - Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Saturday: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon
