Victim/Witness Program
The Northampton County Victim/Witness Program (NCV/WP) provides comprehensive and direct services to crime victims and witnesses in accordance with the Crime Victim and Witness Rights Act in cooperation with the Northampton County Sheriff's Office, the Commonwealth's Attorney Office, Northampton County Department of Social Services, Probation and Parole Services, Eastern Shore Coalition Against Domestic Violence, and the Northampton County Health Department. This is accomplished through funds provided solely by a federal grant.
The program has been in existence since September 1997. It is hosted by the Northampton County Commonwealth Attorney. The program aids victims and witnesses by making them aware of their rights and responsibilities under the law. The program helps victims and witnesses with courtroom assistance, crisis referrals, victim notification, and compensation.
