Help Eastern Shore Rural Health raise the match for a challenge grant!

Eastern Shore Rural Health System, Inc. has been awarded a $150,000 challenge grant by The Cabell Foundation in support of the new Eastville Community Health Center. This is a one dollar-to-one dollar match. At least half of the required funds must come from sources other than grants and foundations.

Funds Raised So Far

ESRHS is replacing the aging Bayview and Franktown Community Health Centers with a new medical and dental facility conveniently located on Route 13 in Eastville. The new facility will have more than 24,000 square feet compared to the 13,700 square feet that the current Bayview and Franktown have combined. Spotlight on the New EastvilleBy consolidating the two centers ESRHS will be able to offer a state-of-the-art facility providing potential expanded hours to include 10-hour days and Saturday hours, digital x-ray, an on-site pharmacy, expanded lab services and hours, potential telemedicine and additional providers and staff. Digital x-ray is currently not at either facility. Additionally, the current Franktown has dental services, but Bayview does not, so the new center will allow residents in the southern part of Northampton County increased access to dental care.

Update: 7/9/19

Eastern Shore Rural Health CEO, Nancy Stern gave a presentation on the progress of the medical center in Eastville to the Board of Supervisors at their regular meeting on July 9, 2019.
The center is projected to be open in early 2020. The new health center will be named for Calvin Brickhouse, who passed away in 2013. Mr. Brickhouse was a Northampton County teacher, principal and member of the school board. He was also on the ESRH Board of Directors and was instrumental in securing the funding for the Bayview and Franktown facilities. The new facility in Eastville will consolidate the 70 employees who are already working for ESRH and in addition will create 11 new jobs in Northampton County.
