Parks & Recreation Department

The Northampton County Parks & Recreation Department provides facilities and programs to serve the leisure, social, cultural and recreational needs of the community. Programs are provided at schools, athletic fields, parks and other facilities located throughout the County. Information is gathered from the community to determine the need for services.

GOALS

• To promote a wholesome recreational program that will foster a friendly community environment.
• To preserve the native history of Indiantown Park.
• To form partnerships with local businesses, towns and the state for creating recreational opportunities within the County and providing funding for recreational programs.

Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee

The Recreation Advisory is the policy governing board for the Department Of Recreation. They meet on the first Wednesday of every month at 4:00pm at Indiantown Park facility. If you are interested in speaking to or joining the Recreation Board, please contact 757-678-0468.

TORCH RUN SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT

NCPR will be hosting the 2009 Torch Run Softball Tournament at Indiantown Park on Friday
November 6th and Saturday November 7th. For more information about this activity please contact
Jennifer Lewis at 331-3259 ext 18. This tournament is being sponsored by Eastern Shore
Law Enforcement. All proceeds will go toward the Special Olympics.

NCPR THANKSGIVING TURKEY TROT FUN RUN/WALK

Northampton Co. Parks & Rec. will be sponsoring its 2009 Thanksgiving fun run/walk on Saturday
Nov. 14th. The race will be held on Hosptial Road in front of the Cancer Center. Registration for

this activity will begin at 9:00am and the race will begin at 9:30am.

Adult Men's Fall Softball

- The season will begin August 11th and will run until November 16th.
- Ages for this league is 16 years and older, anyone under the age of 18 must have parental consent.
- League Fee is $400.00 per team; each team may have a 20 man roster.
- Registration for this program is currently CLOSED.
- Spring registration for this program will be open in April 2010.
Men's Softball Waiver and Roster

Adult Women's Fall Softball

-The season will begin June 12th and will run until October 3rd.
-Ages for this league is 16 years and older, anyone under the age of 18 must have parental consent.
-League Fee is $400.00 per team; each team may have a 20 women roster.
-Registration for this program is currently CLOSED.
-Spring registration for this program will be open in April 2010.

-Ages for this program is 16 years and older, anyone under the age of 18 must have parental consent.
-League Fee is $300.00 per team; each team may have a 15 player roster.
-Registration for this program is currently OPEN.
-Coach's packets and fees are due to the NCPR Director no later than October 5th by 6:30pm.

Youth Boys and Girls Basketball

-The season will begin December 5th and will run until March.
-Ages for this program are 6 – 15 years old.
-League registration will be $30.00 per child.
-A draft/registration will take place on Saturday November 7th at the former Northampton Middle School. Registration will begin at 10:00am; the draft will begin at 12:00pm.
-Registration for this program is currently OPEN.
