POSITION VACANCY
The County of Northampton is accepting Full time employment applications for:
Development Inspector
Northampton County is accepting applications for the full-time position of Development Inspector. This position is required to have expertise in several areas of law related to land development and conservation in Virginia. The principal role is to work cooperatively with land owners and their agents in complying with various code requirements while promoting economic progress. As such the inspector will have a full understanding of the laws and their intent so as to reasonably apply the standards to situations that arise from those proactively seeking permits for work and those who may have violated laws. In addition the individual must be able to serve as an advocate for proper development by a local constituent with several Commonwealth and Federal agencies. This is a field position which will handle all site inspections for zoning compliance and follow-up on zoning complaints and violations. Virginia ES & C Inspector certification is required within twelve months of employment.
Requires high school diploma or GED and the equivalent of one year of college or specialized vocational training in land surveying, landscape architecture, environmental sciences, planning, civil engineering, or other related field. Also requires one year of related experience.
Excellent communication skills are essential. The salary range for this position is $33,044.00 - $49,563.00 plus benefits.

Part time Administrative Assistant and
Seasonal Summer Camp Counselors
Northampton County is accepting applications for a part time Administrative Assistant and two seasonal part time camp counselors for the Parks & Recreation Department. CPR, Basic First Aid certifications and Child Care Class will be a required part of the training process. Criminal and Sex Offender Background checks are required. Counselors must be 18 years or older and have some child care experience.
