How do I apply for a vacancy?

9-1-1 Communications Officer Full-time Position

The Eastern Shore of Virginia 9-1-1 Commission is now accepting applications for 9-1-1 Communications Officers for an immediate full-time opening. The qualified applicant will work rotating shifts, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays, as well as fill in shifts as needed. 9-1-1 Communications Officers are responsible for answering 9-1-1 calls, verifying the callback number and address of the emergency, determining the nature of the emergency and transferring the call or dispatching the appropriate emergency response unit as required, as well as other associated duties.

Minimum qualifications are a high school diploma or equivalent, including some experience in keyboarding or typing. Applicants must be able to speak clearly and distinctly, understand and follow detailed directions, act quickly and effectively during emergencies, and operate complex telecommunications equipment. Desirable qualifications include two years experience in law enforcement, fire, or emergency medical services, and/or public safety dispatching. Applicants selected for employment will be subject to a background investigation and drug screening.

Expected annual starting salary is $30,389; with actual starting salary based on previous experience and certifications.

Full-time Warehouse Associate 

Position Summary

We are seeking a hard-working, reliable, and punctual warehouse worker to join our growing operation. In this role, you will receive, input, sort, load and unload products, as well as other warehouse and shop-related activities. Having a team-player mentality, while being committed to maintaining a safe and a positive work environment, are essential requirements

• Check all incoming and outgoing orders for accuracy
• File requests for necessary items when stock is low
• Demonstrate commitment to all company safety standards and regulations.
• Perform inventory control checks
• Work cooperatively with team members and supervisors
• Use equipment properly and maintain it as needed
• Operate forklift, as needed
• Keep neat and orderly records of all incoming and outgoing orders
• Keep the warehouse clean and organized
• Report any order discrepancies or issues to management ASAP
• Drive transport vehicles, such as trucks and vans
• Contribute ideas on ways to improve or optimize warehousing procedures
• Keeping company vehicles clean
• Assist with customer/network support when needed; training will be provided

Candidate Qualifications

• Excellent problem solving ability

Job Experience
• Warehouse experience a plus but not required
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record
• Forklift certification and experience is a plus; will need to pass a certification test within 30 days after beginning employment if not previously certified
• Able to work on your feet and lift 50 lbs by themselves and heavier weights with the assistance of coworkers
• Ability to interact with customers, vendors, contractors and other required personnel

Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment Coordinator

Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment Coordinator - Position Advertisement

The Community Fire Company, Inc. (the volunteer fire department serving Exmore and surrounding communities) is seeking an individual to serve as the Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment Coordinator. This is a new part-time position and is temporary in nature utilizing awarded federal grant funds. The incumbent will utilize the latest techniques for the recruitment of volunteer firefighters and methods to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of such recruitment efforts. Works with social, civic, and local organizations to develop partnerships, where appropriate to assist in the recruitment of volunteer firefighters. A significant aspect of work will include serving as a liaison to a contracted individual/firm that will develop, implement, and manage a marketing program to recruit volunteer firefighters as well as other activities related to the recruitment of volunteer firefighters. Candidates must have a high school diploma (or GED equivalent), a valid driver’s license (providing vehicle for use and/or reimbursement for travel), and must successfully pass a background screening. The successful candidate should have excellent time management skills and the ability to work with minimal direct supervision. Position is expected to work between 16-25 hours weekly and will work under the supervision of the Fire Chief and County of Northampton. Expected hourly salary wages are between $18.00 and $25.00.

Jail Medic  

This position will be working in the Eastern Shore Regional Jail and the job will require shift work, days, nights, weekends, holidays and required to be on call at times.

Qualifications: over the age of 21 and have obtained high school diploma or GED. Applicant must possess at a minimum the following: LPN or higher certifications.
